Helping Hands

Dear Tribal Child Care Community,

We must support each now more than ever and continue to be the helpers we have always been. During this current crisis, please take care of yourself too. We are not sure how long this will continue - so we must stay strong! As we nurture children, and take care of our Elders in the community, we must continue to do things to remain healthy both physically and emotionally. What will you do for yourself today?

The situation we are all facing due to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has steadily progressed and we all need to do our part in prevention and containment. There is a lot of information that can be very confusing and difficult to keep up with. We must protect our vulnerable populations, our children, Elders and those with compromised immune systems.

If you are still providing child care for families, it is very important to keep everyone safe. Any sick providers must not care for children. Children must remain home if they are ill. Children and/or providers must remain home until a physician has cleared them to return if they exhibit any symptoms of flu or COVID-19, e.g., high fever, cough or difficulty breathing.

Proper hand washing is the best defense to remain healthy! Cover coughs with a tissue or sleeve (or into crook of elbow). Use hand sanitizer if soap and water is not available. Don't touch your face!

Limit group sizes to no more than 12 in Centers. If possible, try to keep the group sizes small and separated. Stagger time outdoors to limit contact with other groups. If at home - keep your group size to less than 10. Stay in well ventilated areas - outdoors is good for plenty of fresh air!

Use proper cleaning methods and follow the guidance for EPA approved cleaners and disinfectants. Clean hard surfaces several times a day! See information below at the buttons.

If any individual tests positive for COVID-19, you should consult the local or tribal public health department immediately!
